My name is Dr. Venessa King,  I am your “Mama Bear”.  I have been in the school system for 23 years.  Of those 23 years, 22 of them have been in Lake County.  I taught 15 years at Clermont Elementary School and have been at Treadway for 7 years starting as the Assistant Principal.  I have had the wonderful opportunity of teaching 3rd, 4th and 5th grade, Intervention teacher and CRT but spent most of my time in 4th grade.  Every year has been exciting and memorable, as I have been lucky to teach and work with such wonderful students and staff members.

I grew up in Orlando, where I still reside. I have one child, Reggie 2 bonus children, Kayla and Bashari and 3 dogs, Sam, Orea and Fluffy.

Educational background.

I graduated from Florida A&M University (FAMU) in April of 1999 (Go Rattlers!) with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education.  I have obtained a Master’s and Specialist and Doctorate degree from the American College of Education.

I am also a huge sports fan! I played volleyball, soccer, and ranked nationally in track in high school and college. I love attending football games and listening to music. I believe music is important in the classroom, to help increase and promote student learning.

As Principal, I will always promote an atmosphere of safety, trust, and respect. I work hard to build a sense of community among students, and I emphasize the idea of teamwork. I value cooperation and collaboration amongst students and with parents.  I believe that great things can happen when we work together!  Treadway is a place where I really feel like part of a strong community and part of a winning team.

I share a passion for student learning and with us working together we will aim to make every day the best day ever and the best year ever for our children and families!!  I have been truly blessed in my years of teaching and as an administrator and always looking forward to new learning experiences daily.   It is my pledge to work hard for each and every one of our teachers, staff, students and families while supporting the motto of our school:

Take Action…On our Road to Greatness!!!
