Ms. Deborah Harris

Deborah is pleased to be returning to Lake County Schools as our Assistant Principal.  She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of South Florida and an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from National Louis University.  Deborah has 23 years of experience in the field of education.

Her career began at Clermont Elementary School as a first-grade teacher, and she proudly served the students of Lake County for 17 years as a classroom teacher (K, 1st & 3rd ), Potential Specialist, and Curriculum Resource Teacher.  In 2013, Deborah embarked on an overseas adventure and spent time teaching kindergarten in Baku, Azerbaijan.  She continued abroad to serve several years as an administrator in an American International School in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.  Her career highlights include being honored as a Teacher of the Year in 2006 and induction into Delta Kappa Gamma Society.  Some of her cherished teaching memories include chaperoning high school students on a service-learning trip to Borneo, Malaysia, partnering with businesses to provide learning opportunities for children and attending high school graduation celebrations for former students.

Deborah believes that all students have the capacity to learn and that learning and growing happen through solid, trusting relationships in the classroom and beyond.  She is motivated by the practice of challenging students to become curious, to ask questions, and to problem solve as a means of preparing for the future in our dynamic and everchanging world.
